Christmas

Our tree is a fresh one from Keslers and one of the prettiest ones we have ever had! It didn't even have to altered!
Dad's dancing and singing Santa kept us entertained!
Sheri Dew is Marlene's favorite author; so, why not have two just alike?
Can you believe that big pile of wrapping paper with only two of us?!
Mindy was thrilled with the marble game! She was threatening to swipe Julie's when she went home. Now she won't have to engage in a life of crime!

Fall

This is how Linda and Blake's new house looks from our kitchen window.
How do you like our last rose of summer?
Where are the grandkids when you need them?

Melanie, Reporting In

It was great to have Mom and Dad here for their whirlwind visit before they headed for San Diego. Jeff cooked a delicious breakfast for them on Fri morning and then I boarded their bus for a day full of site seeing. We saw some historic sites, Indian ruins, and finished the tour by visiting an Indian reservation that makes Fort Hall look like an upscale neighborhood. The SUP's are a real lively bunch!! Mom kept saying "look what we've got to look forward to in 10 years when we get old". Love it!! Anxious to hear about their trip home through the fire ravaged mountains.

Ward Activity

Our annual Roast Beast Feast was a huge success, but we were two tired people when we crawled into bed last night after it was all over! The party was for the two Groveland Wards and it was our Ward's turn to be in charge this year. Dad was the overall chairman, and worked very hard. In fact, he thinks he did it all by himself. There were a lot of people who helped, however, and it turned out great!

The meat was cooked in an underground pit that was lined with lava rocks. Dad dumped loads and loads of wood inside and on top of the pit which was set on fire during the night while the Boy Scouts kept watch over it. The next morning it was cleaned out and lined with corn husks. Then they put the meat in covered with more corn and lots of dirt and wood and stayed there for 8 hours. It took several men and a tractor with a front loader to take it out of the ground when it was done and several men to cut it up. It was cooked to perfection and was enjoyed by about 300 people. The entire meal consisted of meat, baked beans, potato salad , rolls & butter, drinks of milk or water and ice cream sandwiches for dessert.

The weather couldn't have been more agreeable, and neither could the people as they enjoyed eating, visiting and watching the children play games and dance.
